Physical Description:
Laura is a fairly average height, though skinny, standing at four feet eight inches, and weighing about seventy five pounds. Laura is far from muscley, if you asked her to flex her arm muscles their would be little to show for her effort. In fact, she's very lanky, her arms and legs always seem a bit too long for her. She has pale skin to go with her bright red, wavy hair, which reaches to about the bottom of her shoulder blades, and a generous sprinkling of freckles across her nose and cheeks. She does not get tan in the summer, but rather gets even more freckly, which she actually likes.
The most noticeable features are Laura's eyes and smile. Her eyes are a strikingly dark, but giddy blue which manage to show all her emotions; when she's happy they seem to sparkle with a light that dances about with joy, when she's sad the light goes away completely, when she is angry they seem to harden. But it's not just her eyes which are expressive, Laura communicates with her entire body, anyone, even a stranger would be able to read her feelings at any time. When she's happy -- which is practically all the time -- she grins and laughs, and runs about, letting everyone know she is. If she's upset -- which isn't often -- she sags her shoulders and drags her feet, which is almost more comical than it is pitiful, which isn't really what she's getting at, but no matter.
Being an extremely expressive, giddy person, Laura dresses the way as well. When not in uniform, she will wear bright colors, goofy patterns and flowy skirts. It's not that she wants to get noticed, really -- though she always does -- it's simply in her personality. Whether uniform or no, Laura usually wears her hair either down, often with brightly colored hair clips with beads or bows on them. Her nails are almost always painted a bright color, or even multiple bright colors. Her father usually has to remind her to remove is before going somewhere nice where she has to dress up.
Personality Description:
Laura is an extremely energetic, outgoing and happy girl. Everyone knows when she enters a room because she comes bouncing in, announcing she's there. Whether people like her or not, or even know her name, they at least know who she is, by the simple fact that she draws attention to herself. She doesn't really do it on purpose, it's just the way she is; overexcited at times, hyper and loud. You can see her a mile away, too, bouncing over, her long legs and arms seeming to flail about, her bright red hair bouncing on her shoulders. She's not shy in the least and she'll talk to anyone at all. She isn't even shy around teachers, though she's not disrespectful, just comfortable with herself.
Laura will get excited over the simplest things, she believes that life is short and if you're happy about little things, then you'll be happy a lot more of the time. If her dad got her a nice, new quill she will run around announcing to the world and every time she uses it for the next week or so she'll say something about it.
There's no denying that Laura talks a lot, she can chatter away for ever, and is oblivious if the person she's talking to isn't paying attention. She'll talk about anything, really. Whatever she's interested in that day, whatever exciting thing happened recently. Actually, even if nothing exciting happened that day, she'll always find something that did. Even if other people don't think it's exciting.
Laura is very optimistic. It's exceptionally hard to get her down and she'll always look on the bright side of things. She's a good person to have around if you're upset (or at least for some people) because she won't lie to you, but instead think of something good that came of all of it. She's good at doing this for herself, as well as other people, which is a reason that she's rarely upset, angry or sad. Also, any kind of teasing or insults simply role of her shoulder. This sometime gets people annoyed, thinking she's too cheery, because if you tell her her shirt is ugly she'll respond with "Oh, but I got it in when we went to France! It was so much fun. My daddy bought it for me from a vendor in a street market.... " and then go on to tell you all about their trip to France, after which she'll go bouncing, completely happy.
As far as honestly goes. Laura is a very honest person. She's not good at lying, so doesn't often do it. If she gets in trouble, she won't try to lie her way out of it, but instead try and argue reasonably. With her dad, though, she tries to play the cute card, batting her eyelashes and smiling up at him, which usually works. When she is talking to someone about something personal or touchy. She will be nice, but will not lie. If a classmate is upset about doing poorly on a test, Laura would never tell her that the test was unfair or too hard. She would say something along the lines of "Now you know what you need to study and you won't get the same stuff wrong. So you'll do better on the next one." She likes to give advice and doesn't mind if people ask for her opinion, sometimes she tell it to them even if they don't ask.
Laura tends to believe that there's good in everyone, she will never push people away based on their reputation or their families reputation. She doesn't usually judge on first impressions either, and if someone is rude to her when she first talks to them she will come bouncing up to them the next day anyway. She's rather oblivious when it comes to people trying to drop hints that they want her to go away and they would have to be very blatant about it if they wanted to get rid of her. Laura likes to make friends and does not realize when it is a good time to just leave someone be. If she sees someone who looks lonely she will take it into her head that it is her job to make sure they have someone to talk to.
Laura loves to read. She reads everything, really. But her favorite is fantasy. She loves things like, The Princess Bride and Peter Pan. She's somewhat of a romantic. She used to think that Peter was really real, when she was little. She reads every night before she goes to bed, it helps her go to sleep and reminds her of her dad who used to read to her at home before bed. Laura hasn't made up her mind about what she wants to pursue as a career -- she still has plenty of time of course -- some people think that she wants to be a writer, because they're see her writing. But it isn't really a passion, though she does like to write random things when she's bored. such as short rhyming poems. In class she is very willing to volunteer and answer or ask questions. Teacher either like her because she is so enthusiastic or get annoyed that she is too talkative. She does well in classes that require lots of hands on work, but not so much in things that have a lot quiet reading.
Her mother is one of the only things that can dampen Laura's mood. Mention her mother and she'll make up an excuse and walk away. She won't stay mad at you. But she'll sit by herself for a little while, not talking to anyone and be sulky. That's the one thing that can get her down and once a persons said it they usually won't ask her again.

Family Background:
John Wibberly grew up in a magical family, in a suburb of Chicago with his parents and younger brother. Both his parents were magical, and though you wouldn't know from looking at the outside, it was a very magical house. He was the kind of wizard boy who didn't know much about muggles, his family was pureblooded, though not obnoxious, and didn't spend a lot of time around muggles. His father, Arthur Wibberly owned a shop that sold rare magical (not dark) items in a wizarding market place for the wizards of Chicago. John spent time there as a boy, learning the trade and how things were done. And when he got old enough - sixteen - he even worked there during the summers. After he graduated school, he started working there full time.
Andrea Marks grew up as the only child of a lawyer in Chicago. Her family never had a trace of a wizard blood in it -- or at least none that she new of -- and she was completely ignorant of the magical community that was hidden right outside her front steps. She went to private schools all the way up to high school, then went to College.
You would think a pureblooded wizard, working in a magical shop, and a recent muggle college graduate trying to make her way would never meet. Even if they did, what could they possibly have in common? But John and Andrea did meet. To be honest, even though John liked the girl a lot, he was a little skeptical at first. A muggle. He wasn't a pureblooded snob, he didn't believe that muggles were inferior. His only concern, was how? How would they live together, coming from such different worlds? Yet, against his better judgment he continued to see her. She found it odd that he was evasive when talking about his family. But it didn't worry her too much and she didn't push to point, and she had met some of them (though never at the family's house) As far as John's family went, they were a bit wary about him being with a muggle. They didn't want him to get hurt, knowing that sometimes things didn't work out, but they tried to be as happy for him as they could.
After two years being together, John had yet to tell her about magic. He had found it hard, at times to hide it, but he managed. Finally, when he was twenty seven and she twenty four, John popped the question. Andrea agreed. Everyone was happy for them, but John's father took him aside after he had told, asking when John would tell his future wife about the family. John promised he would tell her soon, but he was afraid. He was afraid he'd lose her, that she would leave him if she found out what he was.
It took John quite a while to pluck up the courage to tell his wife that he was a wizard. She was already pregnant, they were living in their own house near Chicago in a quite suburb. He had been hiding his magic the entire time. Secretly working at his father's shop, only using magic there. It was hard not to use magic at home, but he managed. Driven by both love and fear. Finally, when Andrea was seven months pregnant he told her. She took it pretty hard, angry that he had kept it a secret for so long. It took her awhile to calm down, and John found himself regretting telling her. There daughter was born soon after, which was a relief because it took their minds off magic. Andrea had said she was okay with magic. But things had been strained ever since he had told her.
When John was thirty, and Laura was two, his father gave him the shop, deciding it was time for him to retire. Life went on for two more years, more or less the same. Though things were still hard between Andrea and John. It seemed that things just weren't going back to the way they were. Andrea just couldn't handle it, she pretended she could. But it was so hard. Her husband was a part of something she could never understand, could never be a part of. She had never even seen the shop that he was the owner of.
But on June 27th, when Laura was just four years old, everything changed. John had been at the shop late, cleaning up and organizing and what not, when he heard a knock on the shop door. He looked out, surprised that anyone would be there that late. He motioned to them that the store was closed, pointing the the sign in the window. However, they kept persisting. Knocking and waving. He was afraid that something was wrong and they needed assistance. So he opened the door for them. The next thing he knew he was hurled back and into one of the many cabinets which fell on top of him, hit by a powerful stupify. He hadn't even had time to draw his wand.
He woke up the next day in the magical hospital. He had been healed of his wounds and felt fine. His family was around his bed -- that is everyone except his daughter and wife -- his father told him that he had been attacked and the store robbed. The authorities didn't know who'd done it, but they were working on it. A few hours later he was finally able to leave the hospital and go back to his family. It seemed that no one had told Andrea much of what had happened, not wanting to explain everything. She was scared, angry and confused. She had gotten herself into a world that she didn't understand, couldn't be a part of. She had already felt like she was drifting further and further away from John. That it was only Laura who was keeping them together. Although John wasn't hurt (not anymore, the magic had taken care of that) it was too much for Andrea, she left the next day ina wreck, leaving Laura with John. Laura had already showed sure signs of being a witch, had she not Andrea would have taken her with her or at least come back to work something out. But she couldn't deal with magic any longer, even for her own daughter. She couldn't bare her own child being a witch, she felt that she would never be able to connect with her. It was a dangerous and unfamiliar world to her, and it scared her. For a while John tried to contact Andrea and talk to her, but she wouldn't answer any calls, once -- knowing that she had gone to her parents house -- he had tried to see her face to face, but it ended in disaster. Eventually he just gave up, he had his daughter to think about now.
John decided to raise Laura around muggles, he didn't want her to be ignorant of muggles like a lot of pureblooded wizards are. He sent her to a muggle private school until she was of age to go to Kameons. Laura had always shown magical abilities and knew full well that she wasn't going to be staying in her school forever.
Laura hasn't seen her mother since she was four years old and hardly remembers her. John still owns the shop and it's doing well again. Laura used to spend a lot of time there and in the wizarding shops surrounding. She would help her father out after school and has a very close bond with him. She is a little bit nervous, and afraid of going to Kameons, but she is also very excited, though she will miss her friends at school and her father a lot, but promises to write letters to everyone.
