Character Details
Physical Description:
Laurence is an optical illusion. Standing only at 5’5” he appears to be long and lanky, but Laurence is truly lithe and composed entirely of limbs. He has a long but wide nose and a dimple in his chin, exaggerated when he smiles.
Personality Description: He’s a typical American teenager in most regards. Sex occupies his mind several times a day, sports tend to possess him, and classes are just places where he gets to catch up on lost sleep. But it’s those few regards that keep him from being a ‘typical’ teen that make Laurence, Laurence. He can be rather effeminate at times. Laurence prefers metro-sexual or cultured individual, never girly, sissy, or worse equivalents. It was bound to happen though considering his three older sisters raised him when their parents’ work schedules were too hectic. Too much time spent being his sisters’ living manikin left some lasting effects on Laurence. He prefers to always be well dressed. When out of his school uniform he’s still in slacks and a button up. He pays attention to changing fashions and fills his closet with colors not typically seen on men. Laurence takes care of his skin and spends a good amount of time on his hair each morning while still making his image look effortless.
Looking at Laurence’s grades will tell a lot about him. Charms is completely lost on him. Who cares if your socks can fold themselves? Laurence is perfectly capable of folding his own socks. He’s got hands. Astronomy is for loons who don’t have a night life. The course Care of Magical Creatures seems to be a complete oxymoron to Laurence. Shouldn’t magical creatures be able to take care of themselves? His grades in these “lesser” courses are very poor; just high enough to pass him onto the next level. While his grades in Potions, Transfiguration, Arithmancy, and Alchemy are all very good. Excellent even. This is because Potions comes very naturally to Laurence. His parents very much liked this development in their son’s character. What’s more manly than a profession in which it’s customary to blow items up. Unfortunately, at least in his parents’ opinion, potions only led Laurence to alchemy and art. It can’t be helped that Laurence feels most connected to the magical world when creating marble and then free it from its natural shape into his true shape. There’s something invigorating about pushing the tip of his want against the white stone and blasting away the correct amount, transforming the marble. Although his mother appreciates the statues that decorate their rooftop garden, his father constantly asks him to seek a real job, something respectable. Something all his sisters have managed. Each time Laurence is implored by his father, he transfigures his father’s desk into a coffin or his stake of parchments into a wicker birdcage.
His creativity gives Laurence a knack for getting out of trouble, finding loop wholes, and creative solutions. He’s a damn good wingman, but never a leader. In conversations he prefers to answer and respond rather than question and assert. Unintentionally he’s gone a full day without utter a word, merely because nobody said anything to him, but careful not to get him started. He’s either ‘on’ or ‘off’ there’s no Laurence Light. Projects and people can consume Laurence at times.
Greatest Character Strength: Imaginative
Worst Character Flaw: Obsessive
Family Background and Childhood
Location of Home Residence: Chicago, Illinois.
Academy Funding: Have you seen the Euro lately? Laurence’s father has investments in the motherland. The conversion rate has greatly help put the four Forosetti children through Kameons.
Family Background: The Forosetti family is large on its own; six is a fair sized family for the United States. Their extended family is monstrous in size. The Forosetti are Italian and different parts of their clan are scattered about northern America, parts of Canada, and many still reside in Italy. Holidays are terrifying. Every year it’s insisted that there’s a grand reunion, as though 12 months can create that much of a difference. There’s a smattering of best pasta sauce recipes, and who’s been blessed with the best looking grandchildren. Laurence’s cousins speak to him in Italian. Laurence only knows commonly used phrases and can’t really roll his Rs properly, but he can understand when his cousins laugh at his expense. That’s international. It’s all a bit of mess, ending with the different nations teaming up against each other. There’s declarations of war—actual war! And yet, by the end of the weeklong torture event everyone leaves crying and making plans for next year.
Laurence’s three older sisters (Francesca, Elizabeth, and Caroline) still live at home even though only the youngest is at Uni. Laurence too will live with his parents until he gets married. This isn’t so terrible, his parents are hardly home. Laurence’s parents work full time and keep irregular hours. Maria Forosetti is the editor in-chief for Chicago’s top newspaper Patronum. The current times have kept her extremely busy. Tommaso Forosetti works for the AMA dealing with international magical relations between America and Southern Europe. With half his clients being on average six hours in the future, Tommaso functions on an entirely different schedule than the rest of the family. Laurence doesn’t mind this so much. He’s been well provided for and given lots of opportunities provided by his parents’ paychecks.
